what is a risoprint?

A risoprint is a print made using a risograph digital duplicator! The RISO printing method is a hands-on, experimental, and sometimes unpredictable process which utilizes incredibly vivid inks that other printers cannot produce.

Like with screen printing, risographs print one color at a time using dedicated ink drums. That means any multicolored prints must be fed back through the printer for each additional layer of color. This process of re-feeding prints through the machine can cause some unique quirks for each print. Misregistration and other marks from the printer's internal mechanisms may be present in one print but not in another from the same series. Personally, I find the results of these unpredictable effects add an authenticity to my prints that I find incredibly satisfying. I hope you do too!
